National Oceanographic and Atmospheric
Administration
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
conducts research and gathers data about the global oceans,
atmosphere, space, and sun, and applies this knowledge to
science and service that touch the lives of all Americans.
NOAA warns of dangerous weather, charts our seas and skies,
guides our use and protection of ocean and coastal resources,
and conducts research to improve our understanding and
stewardship of the environment which sustains us all.
Challenge
NOAA had a project evaluating fisheries surveillance and
monitoring of marine mammals, such as whales, seals and sea
lions from a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). They needed to be
able to transmit video from an Altair UAV to various end users
throughout the agency. This three-week project involved 53 hours
of flight time and assisted several different projects
agency-wide.

King 5 - Belo Broadcasting
King 5 is part of the Belo Corporation, one of the nation's
largest media companies with a diversified group of
market-leading television, newspaper, cable and interactive
media assets.
Challenge
King 5 had an existing microwave link that they wanted to use
for other programming, so they needed an alternate link for
their airport tower cam. They needed a full D1 resolution
feed and only had a single 1.5Mbps T1 line. Station
operations were skeptical that they could get a high enough
quality signal over that line but the ACT-L3™ Video Transport
delivered.
