Picture Perfect Pixels for Broadcast Workflows
Complete end-to-end workflows specifically tuned to the needs of broadcasters are enabled by Streambox broadcast solutions. By using Streambox systems, the costs of covering live events can be reduced by supplementing or removing existing satellite or microwave links.
Remote Newsgathering and Live News Production
The AVENIR Micro mobile encoder is modular and stackable, permitting remote field reporters to set up quickly and transmit full HD, low latency video over bonded 3G,4G, WiFi, Ethernet, SNG/DNG, and Internet networks. The AVENIR Mini 4 mobile encoder includes all of the capabilities of AVENIR Micro as well as being camera mountable with five embedded modems.
For robust connectivity coverage in locations with poor quality networks or highly congested cellular areas, Streambox offers add-on signal extenders or the VETA all-in-one backpack mobile system which integrates the AVENIRMicro encoder, an embedded modem, and a telescopic magnetic antenna.
For critical application such as a live two-way interview, the Streambox Chroma advanced encoder/decoder offers high-quality UHD and HD streaming. The optimized Streambox ACT L3/L5 codec supports various frame rates and bit depths- even 12-bit 4:4:4 RGB. Content can also contain HDR in different standards and up to 16 channels of uncompressed audio.
The Streambox Cloud encoder and the Streambox app for use on iPads, iPhones, Mac laptops, and Windows laptops enable mobile users to cost-effectively stream professional-quality live media from the field to be streamed and shared via the web or on mobile devices. Live streaming media can also be sent to social media sites like YouTube, Facebook, as well as specific news websites for real-time media sharing.
All these encoder systems can be utilized with Streambox Cloud Services operating over wired and wireless IP networks to bring news content to locations anywhere in the world. Streambox Enterprise Server is a central server to aggregate and manage large amounts of streaming media content with secure management, automated live production routing, and metadata search capabilities. Enterprise Server works well for organizations that have a known number of clients on a single network, while Cloud Services adds the flexibility and scalability of establishing a robust first-mile connection and use of reliable Cloud-based distribution to any number of designated destinations around the world. This could include point to point connection with a Streambox decoder or to multiple local and/or globally placed remote decoders and players. The 8 or 16 Channel IFB Server enables live communication between studio and field over IP networks with ultra-low latency.
Unique to Streambox is the low delay multi-path protocol (LDMP) for optimized performance on WiFi, 3G, 4G, and wired IP networks. Support for network bonding means transport has additional reliability and redundancy.
The Streambox infrastructure can also provide full end-to-end AES 128-bit video encryption to protect valuable content no matter where it is being sent. The encryption does not increase latency or impact real-time collaboration.
There are a number of options for playing out streaming media content from Streambox as well. When the best performance is required, a Chroma hardware decoder can be used. A smaller, lower-cost hardware option is the NODE 2 media player. This is a small form factor device that includes up to 10 programmable channels and 6 channels of audio.
Streambox also offers software media players. There are players for both Windows and Mac-based computer systems. For a more mobile experience, Streambox offers a Mobile Media Player iOS application for iPads and iPhones, with an Android version coming soon.
Live Event Contribution and Distribution
The Streambox Chroma encoder/decoder platform is ideal for IP-based UHD and HD video contribution from studios, bureaus, and affiliates over low-cost Internet networks. Users can stream secure live media from the field locations to multiple destinations with automated routing. Chroma functions as a streaming decoder and player at network and station facilities as well. Chroma also integrates easily into outside broadcast vehicles to remotely manage and distribute streaming video. Large amounts of live media content can be aggregated with Chroma for easy routing, distribution, and playout for synchronized distribution across multiple channels with Streambox Cloud Services or Streambox Enterprise Server. Streambox Cloud Services are available even on a project-by-project basis.
Capturing high-quality action at live games or events and transmitting it to viewers can be a logistical and technical challenge. Streambox's innovative codec and transport technologies permit users to set up quickly and reliably transport high-quality media over a variety of low bandwidth connections as events unfold. Live event production crews are able to simulcast events from the control room, stage, and other locations in full HD with the AVENIR Micro and AVENIR Mini.
When extra mobility is required, Streambox software encoders for iPad, iPhone, Windows and Mac OSX are available for streaming to the web and mobile devices. Streaming from remote locations and hard-to-access situations is possible with the AVENIR Drone, or use the Avenir Mini 4 mobile encoder for rapid encoding to stream low-latency, high-quality HD video with superior reliability.
The same choice Streambox players apply to these environments as in news.
